The heart just cannot pump enough blood to supply the tissues of the body with healthy oxygen. This causes heart attacks and strokes. Pregnancy-- The health effects of smoking, and even of second hand smoke, on pregnant women are dangerous. Smoking causes preterm delivery, low birth weight and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The brain-- Smoking has a powerful impact on the brain. When a person smokes dopamine enters the brain which immediately changes a person’s mood, because dopamine has a pleasurable effect. Smoking also reduces memory and cognitive abilities.
Other influences-- Smokers are 2 to 3 times more likely to develop cataracts than non smokers. Smoking causes gum disease. Due to the reduction of oxygen in the blood smoking can cause paralysis of the hands and feet. Smoking causes the weakening of your immune system and to recover from any illness becomes a long and difficult process. Training becomes more difficult, because when you smoke your endurance levels become much lower. Due to circulation problems caused by smoking you do run a risk of limbs being amputated when smoking. Smokers do experience higher levels of every day stress than non smokers. Smoking is poor for the skin. When smoking and holding a cigarette between the fingers your fingers become yellow stained. The similar happens to your finger nails. Smoking and health are closely related: The longer time you smoke and the more cigarettes you smoke per day the more negative impact it will have on your health. When smoking— Your risk of a coronary heart disease is increased 2 to 4 times. Your risk of dying from chronic bronchitis and emphysema increases with 12 to 13 times. Your risk of a stroke increases 2 to 4 times. The threat of men developing lung cancer raises 23 instances and also the danger of ladies developing lung cancer rises with 13 times.
