With Passive Smoking you inhale the smoke that is caused by someone else

Passive smoking (also called second hand smoke or environmental smoke) is the involuntary inhaling of smoke that is caused by some one else. It is a mixture of the smoke that emits from the tip of a cigarette while a person is smoking. Added to that is the smoke that is exhaled by a person while he/she is busy smoking. Added to that again is the smoke that emits while a person is stamping out a cigarette when finished smoking.

This second hand smoke is dirty, it is bad and it kills people.

Fairness of passive smoking:

When we talk about second hand smoke we must remember that it is involuntary. It is forced onto a person by the indiscrete and selfish act of someone else. A second party puts the “monkey” on your back and it is impossible to get rid of it.

People and especially children are left with no choice. They are forced to inhale it. Passive smokers do not even get the enjoyment and pleasure out of smoking that a smoker gets in return.

My feeling is that it is unfair of someone to force a second party to inhale his/her dirty second hand smoke.

On the other hand I do realize that one cannot be to harsh, because once this smoking monkey has got hold of you it is so difficult to rid yourself of this smoking addiction.

Lately countries al over the world has started to put smoking bans in place. These bans have already resulting into effectively reducing the effects of passive smoke on people that do not want it in their lives.

What are the effects of passive smoking?

As with the effects of smoking , second hand smoking also has many negative effects. There are short term and more serious long term effects.

Short term effects—

2) Within half an hour a persons’ coronary blood flow can be reduced when exposed to second hand smoke.

3) The change of persons with asthma to experience attacks is substantially increased when exposed to passive smoke.

4) When you are trying to quit the presence of second hand smoke leads to cravings which makes it very difficult to resist the urges.

5) People with allergies really suffer when exposed to environmental smoke.

Long term effects—

1)When exposed to environmental smoke for long periods a persons’ changes of getting lung cancer are increased by 20 to 25%.

The effects of passive smoking on pregnant women: When exposed to environmental smoke women can experience problems to get pregnant. Female fertility can suffer and it can become difficult to conceive a child.

Second hand smoke can also do harm to the fetus and it can lead to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (cot death). There is always a risk of miscarriages and other birth defects.

Unborn babies that are exposed to environmental smoking weigh less at birth. They are also likely to experience development issues such as learning disabilities and cerebral palsy.

The influence of environmental smoke on children:

The changes of children to protect themselves against second hand smoke are minimal, but childrens’ lives can change dramatically due to the negative effects it has on them.

Children face higher health risks when compared to adults. There bodies are still developing which make them very sensitive to the intake of the harmful chemicals from second hand smoke.

Second hand smoke can cause ear infections, asthma, cancer, lung cancer, bronchitis and other lung diseases. Children exposed to second hand smoke are also likely to get adenoid or tonsil problems.

Children exposed to secondhand smoke have detectable levels of cotanine in their bloodstreams.

In conclusion:

Passive smoke is dangerous. It is forced onto people that do not want to be exposed to it.

Second hand smoke does a lot of damage to people and especially to children and unborn babies. Second hand smoke kills people.

It will always be better to rather try and kill your smoking habit.
